Village Clustering project blamed for causing divisions between farming and pastoral communities in Tana River County.

17:18 Jun 16 2020 Tana River County

Description
Heavy flooding in Tana River has displaced displaced Over 5000 households. In response to this the county government is planning for settlement areas known as village clusters for the affected. This has however caused a lot of concern among community members who are yet to receive any form of assistance from the county government in resolving land ownership conflicts. Pastoral communities have faulted the project as a move by the Governor to galvanize votes among the Pokomo community to their disadvantage ahead of the 2022 elections. This has therefore led to divisions between farmers and pastoral communities in the county.
