Locals ban transportation and sale of miraa over fear of COVID-19

Truckloads of miraa worth thousands of shillings have been destroyed in the Coast region. This is part of government directive and preventive measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Miraa Traders Association has announced plans to move to court to seek compensation over the damage caused to the crop in Mombasa, Tana River and Kilifi counties.
