Influx of Camels in Tana Delta arousing rumors of desertification in the Region

Description

There are reported incidences of an influx of over 5,000 Camels in Assa location and Idsowe areas.

Residents in retaliation have coined narratives that are fast spreading that the camels can cause damage to the environment leading to desertification.

Peace committees and local stakeholders have intervened to bring about sanity and organization for competing interest amongst pastoral communities to access water points. These have also been met with rumors that the committees have now permitted outsiders with camels to take over local water points from local herders and camel pastoralist
