Residents have made numerous reports of increased incidences of cattle theft in the area. Police reports have confirmed that the stolen animals are slaughtered and their meat transported to nearby towns of kilifi and Mombasa for sale. This has caused tension among communities suspecting each other of indulgence in the vice.
