On Sunday January 14, 2018, at Ishakani Village in Lamu East sub-county, a group of about 100 heavily armed suspected Al-shabaab militants ambushed the village during morning hours and gave a lecture with radical teachings for about one hour leaving the residents in high tension.They said they would not harm villagers as their target were security forces.
One resident said the militants advised the villagers not to cooperate with security agencies and to avoid travelling in military and police vehicles.
Residents later fled the village for fear of their lives.
The village is at the border of Lamu and Somalia.
