Confirmed reports from Tana River County indicate that on 6th/12/2017, violence broke out between the Pokomo and the Orma communities residing in Idsowe and Danisa villages respectively. It has been confirmed that the conflict was caused by a prolonged land ownership tussle between the two communities. on the said day, a group of youth from the Orma community ambushed women who were cultivating on the contentious piece of land injuring them with pangas and knives.In response to this a group of youth from the Pokomo community moved in to rescue the women by attacking the Orma youth. This resulted in two women being seriously injured and the rest with minor injuries. Police did move in to prevent further attacks while arresting several suspects found on the scene. The arrested persons have been remanded as they await prosecution.Normalcy is slowly returning to the area as the said communities are being engaged in re conciliatory barazas by security officials.
